Our first group outing in Austin was a beautiful boat ride hosted by Susan on Lake Travis, celebrating Darin’s 60th birthday with family and friends. We were joined by Susan, Darin’s partner; Hilde, his mom; Arthur; his friends Kiko and Cher; and Bianca’s sister, Thali, who flew in from Jersey to celebrate with us.

The lake breeze, good food, and all the laughter made the afternoon feel special from the start. We took in the views of the shoreline and the lakefront homes, then, about 30 minutes into the trip, anchored and jumped in for a swim.

It was my first time swimming in a lake since learning how to swim two years ago. I felt a little nervous at first, but once I got in, it was such a rewarding feeling. The day was incredibly hot, which made the cool lake water feel just right.

We cracked open some Heinekens and wished Darin a happy birthday with Chris Stapleton and Teddy Swims playing on the radio. And a fun detail: Heineken is Darin’s favorite beer. He refuses to drink anything else. haha.
