📍: Gotokuji Temple 護国寺 

I remember weeks earlier, me and Bianca would chat about how important shrines and temples were for our Japan experience. One of the first temples we wanted to visit was Gotokuji Temple, a safe space and birthplace of the legendary Maneki-neko’s 招き猫 also known at the Beckoning Cat. 

As we made our way into the temple I was blown away and left in awe of the three story wooden Pagoda that survived World War 2 Air Raids. Before arriving through the gates, we had the privilege of Ayumi teaching us how to properly pray and pay our respects within the temple.

After prayer we walked through the shrine of Maneki-mekos and then proceeded into the gift shop and picked up a cat as a souvener.
