Looking out the window this morning, the street was unrecognizable under a fresh layer of snow. I had to head to Hell's Kitchen for a doctor’s visit, but my mind was already on the photos I wanted to take. With my GR in hand, I braved the drive, eventually rewarding myself with an oat latte from Culture Coffee.

My real destination, however, was Riverside Drive. I’ve always loved its historic character, the way the sculptures and vintage benches sit against the backdrop of the Hudson River. I spent the day exploring its four-mile expanse, focusing on the architectural details of the Joan of Arc statue and Grant's Tomb, and paying a visit to the Shinran Shonin statue at the Kokushi Budo Institute.
